A couple of comments that I hope are useful. I'm not an indy designer, I'm an indy knit teacher (www.leftoutknitter.com) and have found the LYS do respond well to LOCAL indy. When you're a visitor it's much better to either know the shop's strengths or a local knitter to use as an introduction. Yes, unfortunately, a packet seems to be in order. I've done a little cover letter with an intro and price breaks and sometimes a demo of my DVD.
I really did have 2 other thoughts, but my dementia is kicking in pretty hard so I'll have to hope they come back later.
I'd love to hope on your podcast and chat about promoting your indy stuff (since we don't compete!) and the joys and downs of parenting etc. Let me know if you're interested?
